MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The opportunity for young Mossel Bay soccer players to excel became a reality with the help of the public benefit organisation, Transition Football, and other sponsors.
The owners of Transition Football, Greg Lowe and Mandla Tsengwa, handed over full soccer kit to 80 players in Extension 23 on Saturday, 2 March.
Lowe said they would make it possible for the young players to compete in surrounding towns, such as George. The players will be coached by Thembalethu Panziso.
Lowe and Tsengwa invited businessmen to come aboard and, like Sharpsell, which is sponsoring the first three months of the soccer field rental, help to make a success of the programme.
AR Wynne Hughes, the president of Pipeline Induction Heat / PIH Middle East / Stanley Inspection South Africa, said: "We are delighted to support this initiative here in Mossel Bay.
"While the sponsorship of the equipment and soccer kit is an easy gesture, to see the enjoyment and sense of purpose of the coaches and players here on my visit, is humbling.
"I wish the group all the best in developing their football, social and citizenship skills. I am also delighted for our Stanley Inspection team members who live and work in the local area to be able to give back to their community."
Dimitri Coumbias, the HR director of Stanley Inspection South Africa, said: "It was an honour and privilege to sponsor Transition Football.
"We recognised the passion and care Greg Lowe and Mandla Tsengwa have for their community and wanted to help them achieve their dreams in aiding players towards a football career.
"A special thank you goes to PetroSA and Thandi Nameka for making this all happen for the community and allowing us to be a part of it."
Businessmen who wish to assist can contact Lowe (076 134 3690 or greg@transitionfootball.co.za).
