MOSSEL BAY NEWS - With heavy rainfall across the greater Mossel Bay area, the Mossel Bay Municipality has received several complaints of water accumulating on road surfaces in various areas today, 9 August.
In a public notice posted to its Facebook page this afternoon, the municipality said its Fire and Rescue and Disaster Management Services teams have been deployed to investigate reported problem areas.
The municipality’s Streets and Stormwater teams are also aware of the complaints and are attending to and investigating the affected sites.
“Residents and road users are reminded that during periods of heavy downpours, water may accumulate on road surfaces and may take some time to drain into stormwater systems, especially where rainfall is intense or prolonged,” the municipality said.
It urged residents and motorists to reduce their speed, drive with caution, maintain a safe following distance and avoid driving through standing water.
Residents are also advised to avoid unnecessary travel until conditions improve.
