MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 57-year-old Asla Park man this morning, 3 November.
A Southern Cape Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Chris Spies, said the KwaNonqaba Police were summoned to Fischer Street, Asla Park, following reports of an altercation in which a man was stabbed.
When they arrived, the man was found unresponsive on his bed with a stab wound to his chest, and the paramedics declared him dead.
When Mossel Bay Advertiser arrived on the scene, a crowd of community members had gathered outside the house where the stabbing had taken place. The police had cordoned off the entrance while the on-scene investigation was under way.
Forensic Pathology Services (FPS) removed the body, causing a fresh wave of distress and devastation to the deceased’s family, who held each other and cried as the man’s body was loaded into the FPS vehicle.
The Advertiser approached the man’s wife, who was too distraught to speak to the media. The man’s identity is known to the Advertiser, but will not be released until contact is made again with his family.
Spies said a 62-year-old man was arrested in connection with the stabbing and is currently in police custody.
