MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay residents came out in their numbers this morning, 31 October, to show their support for cancer patients, their families and loved ones by participating in the Steps of Courage walk through town.
The walk's organisers, Just Breathe in Care of Cancer, a non-profit organisation based in Mossel Bay, said in a statement released ahead of the event that community unity was central to Steps of Courage, second only to raising awareness of the impact cancer has on so many lives.
Participants were encouraged to wear blue or pink clothing, representing prostate and breast cancer respectively, with the colours highlighting the importance of early detection in the fight against both diseases.
It was a sea of pink and blue as attendees, young and old, embraced the theme. Even some of those who brought their pets along dressed them up in colourful attire, including tutus and bandanas.
After the walk, participants could enjoy musical performances and other entertainment, while food and coffee stalls provided an opportunity to relax and socialise.
