MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Garden Route district farming community, in conjunction with various role players, will be conducting a simulation exercise on a Great Brak farm this Saturday, 13 April.
This was announced by police spokesperson, Sergeant Chris Spies, is a statement this week.
He said this simulation exercise formed part of continuous efforts to safeguard rural communities.
"The aim of the exercise is to assess operational readiness and response to attacks on farming communities.
"We urge residents to exercise caution during the exercise as there will be an increase in activity of emergency services in the Great Brak policing precinct, especially on farms," said Spies.
He said the police were committed to working closely with community police forums, farm watches, neighbourhood watches, the community in blue (an initiative of the South African Police Service with the goal of elevating all Community Policing Forums to the level the law intended by close vetting and training all Community Policing Forum members to ensure high standards of protocol and action) and other stakeholders to safeguard farming communities.
He said the exercise also served to "sharpen tactics and available resources" and similar exercises would be conducted in other areas in the future.
