MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Two beach clean-ups were held, one in Dana Bay and another in Great Brak River on 27 December, and saw over 70kg of waste collected.
The Great Brak River Conservancy held its clean-up at Suiderkruis Beach with both the Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Willie Aucamp and Mossel Bay Municipality's Executive Mayor Alderman Dirk Kotzé, in attendance.
Later in the afternoon, Aucamp and Kotzé attended the clean-up in Dana Bay, held by the Dana Bay Conservancy, accompanied by Ward 11 councillor Nickey Le Roux.
The Conservancy's chairperson, Erika van der Westhuizen, said the clean-up was conducted between First Beach and the Blinde River and there were 46 volunteers present.
"We were able to collect 75kg of waste between First Beach and the Blinde River. This is amazing considering that the beach actually seemed pretty clean," said Van der Westhuizen.

Van der Westhuizen thanked those who joined the and said the conservancy is planning another clean-up for the end of January.
" Please make sure to join us in making a difference. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to continue or start recycling more waste," she said.
