MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - Conservancies, NPOs and state entities had exhibition stands at an interesting conservation awareness drive at the Mossel Bay Town Hall on Saturday, 26 April.
Visitors engaged with the stand hosts enthusiastically, questions were asked and answered and connections were made.
Some of the displays showed great care and attention to detail.
Posters, brochures, animals modelled out of clay and samples of alien vegetation featured in the exhibitions.

The awareness drive was organised by the directors of the Mossel Bay Conservancy Forum non-profit company and conservancies and conservation-oriented organisations in the Mossel Bay municipal area were invited to exhibit.
The event was opened by Mossel Bay municipal manager Colin Puren and after his speech, a touching song, Save it all, was sung by Hartenbos singer songwriter, Vernon Ericson Barnard. (See videos at the end of the article and picture.)
In part of the song, his young granddaughter sings and those present were visibly emotional at hearing her sweetly singing about preserving nature for future generations.
Puren said the Mossel Bay Conservancy Forum non-profit company was established in September 2024.
It acts as a coordinating body between the different conservancy forums and liaises with CapeNature to obtain advice and support.
He said: "Through the collective efforts of conservancies, we've created a network united by one powerful vision: to protect, preserve and promote the astonishing beauty and biodiversity that define our region."
He thanked the current Mossel Bay Conservancy Forum vice-chair Erika van der Westhuizen and town councillor Nickey le Roux for playing a pivotal role in establishing the NPC.
The Dana Bay Conservancy was represented at the event by committee member Colleen Putter, chair Erika van der Westhuizen, secretary Dawn Squires, committee member Jane Buchanan, treasurer Ilize du Plessis and committee member (back) Eric Potgieter.
