MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The neighbourhood watches and CPFs in the greater Mossel Bay area are spreading some holiday spirit among the communities and police officers by decorating the Community Service Centres (CSCs).
However, there is a little bit of competition between the various CPFs and neighbourhood watches to see who manages to pull off the most dazzling displays.
Deidre Swanepoel of the Mossel Bay CPF said the idea of decorating all the police stations’ CSCs came from the Mossel Bay Police Station’s commander, Lieutenant Colonel Ashley Michaels. Swanepoel then spread the message to the other stations, and KwaNonqaba was the first of the four to get its festive season make-over.
Members of the Dana Bay Neighbourhood Watch and the KwaNonqaba CPF went into the CSC on Saturday 29 November with tinsel, fairylights and, of course, a Christmas tree.

The next CSC to be decorated was the Mossel Bay Police Station’s on 5 December. A Christmas tree with a large teddy bear wearing a CPF reflector vest was installed just inside the entrance to Mossel Bay’s CSC.
Smaller Christmas trees with presents stacked underneath were also set up around the centre, and tinsel and Christmas stockings were hung up from the windows.

Jacky Carstens and Kowie de Kock of the Great Brak River CPF spread their festive cheer to the Great Brak CSC on the morning of 6 December. Many of the decorations were handmade, including the cardboard candy canes along the CSC’s walls and the Christmas angels hanging on the trees inside the station.

Da Gamaskop had its CSC done up on Wednesday 10 December. Hannelie Marais of the Da Gamaskop CPF erected a small Christmas tree in the station, hung up tinsel on the windows and several handmade stars around the CSC.
