MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The University of the Western Cape is hosting a workshop that will engage the local community on a research project on matters of walking, safety and community building at the Asla Park Community Hall at 17:30 for 18:00 this evening, 16 October.
According to a press statement from the university, the workshop stems from a project entitled ‘Engaging Peer Researchers and their Communities: Post-project Community Workshops and Interventions’.
The statement said the workshop seeks to strengthen the potential impact of project findings that aimed to understand the role of walking in low-income communities, while also exploring how the young male residents of Mossel Bay negotiate safe walking.
The community workshop will be led by peer researchers with youth groups to disseminate the findings from the studies that were carried out in 2023 and 2024, and to translate these findings into action.
It will also seek to record its successes and failures.
