MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Having fun this holiday season doesn't have to come at the expense of your wallet. Here are a few budget-friendly ways to enjoy the summer season to the fullest.
Days at the beach
Mossel Bay is home to more than one beach and swimming location, including Santos Beach, Diaz Beach, De Bakke Beach, Die Poort at The Point, Great and Little Brak River beaches and Hartenbos Beach.
Access to these beaches is free of charge.
And when you get hungry, food stalls are close at hand. Both Santos and Hartenbos beaches have safe swimming conditions for the public.

Hiking trails
The St Blaize Hiking Trail is one that many visitors to Mossel Bay embark upon, taking in the beautiful ocean views and surrounding flora and fauna. Remember to bring comfortable walking shoes, water and a hat.
St Blaize Caves
Not only will you walk a short way towards an incredible view of the surrounding ocean at the St Blaize Caves, but you'll also discover the Point of Human Origins, an archaeological site where the earliest evidence of the first human remains were discovered.
Bartolomeu Dias Museum
This museum is home to the famous 500-year-old Post Office Tree, a life- size replica of the Dias Caravel, a shell museum and aquarium and the Ethno Botanical Garden.
There are a few temporary displays, including the popular specimen table with fresh, indigenous local examples of plants with educational information.
Cape St Blaize Lighthouse Complex
Built in 1864, this lighthouse offers not only a breathtaking view of the ocean, but also a guided tour on the building's history and a unique dining experience.
Diaz Express
The Diaz Express offers a scenic rail experience between Hartenbos and Great Brak River in the Garden Route of South Africa.
The railway line winds through a tunnel, over bridges, past indigenous plant life and stunning views over the Indian Ocean.
