KWANONQABA NEWS - The bail applications of the three men accused of an armed robbery at Hemper Supermarket in KwaNonqaba two weeks ago have yet to be finalised.
Todeo Sibanda (32), Abongile Zinto (39) and Manezi Pury (40) appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate’s Court again on Wednesday 28 January, facing charges of assault with grievous bodily harm, malicious injury to property and the pointing of a firearm.
The Southern Cape Police’s spokesperson, Warrant Officer Chris Spies, told Mossel Bay Advertiser one of the suspects had reportedly been in possession of a firearm.
Dawite Wolekemo and his brother, Tigitsu, both employees of Hemper Supermarket, had returned from a funeral at about 17:30 on Friday 16 January when they came upon the robbers at the shop.
Dawite attempted to keep the three men locked inside the shop gates, but a struggle ensued.
The robbers managed to push past and shot him in his legs before fleeing the scene, taking some cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash with them.
They were arrested shortly afterwards.
All three will remain in police custody until their next court appearance on Thursday 12 February.
