MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Since the national lockdown has been announced, the movement of civilians has been closely monitored.
The N2 leading into Mossel Bay from the Cape Town side, generally bustling with traffic, was almost ghostly quiet.
On the N2 into Mossel Bay, a check point was set up at PetroSA and, earlier this week, another on the turn-off to Herbertsdale.
Motorists were stopped and had to present the correct documentation, a driver's licence or identity document, which was scanned by an official. Licence disks of vehicles were also scanned.
"Only those in possession of the correct documentation as stipulated by the lockdown regulations, will be allowed to travel. Should you require a permit to travel other than to buy necessary items like groceries, medication or to visit a doctor, enquire about this at your nearest police station," Capt Wollie Fourie, spokesperson of the Da Gamaskop Police reiterated this week.

Motorists were asked to present proof of why they were traveling on the N2.
