MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Last week Thursday, 5 May, the Mossel Bay Golf Club women played host to just under 100 lady golfers from the Southern Cape and beyond, who were invited to escape from their daily routine and join us in paradise on our beautiful golf course.
This appealed to the imaginations of the ladies, who arrived in many various outfits depicting their "escape", making for a very bright and cheerful group (orange and black being a dominant colour), which went a long way to counteract the heavy blanket of mist that enveloped the course for the first few hours.
We started the day with coffee and delectable eats provided by the Mossel Bay golfers.
The ladies received a survivor goodie bag and set off for a shotgun start. Many holes were manned by various sponsors, offering the ladies all sorts of treats.
The locally run animal welfare, CAWS4PAWS, sold us a Mulligan for a Mutt, costing R20, allowing one to retake one shot on the 12th hole, a definite win-win situation.
After the golf, the clubhouse was abuzz with lively chatter, lots of good food and drink as well as the soothing sounds of singer Janine Fourie.
Two "inmates" arriving at the Mossel Bay ladies' golf day.
Prize winners were as follows:
- Kim de Klerk and Shani van Rooyen (42);
- Leola Joubert and Carina van der Walt (41);
- Cheryl Tooth and Pat Porteous (41);
- Gail Botha and Gloria Greyvenstein (40);
- Christe-Mari Meyer and Marina Juta (40);
- Regina Herbst and Vivienne Wentworth (40);
- Jean Kotze and Nannette Grobbelaar (38);
- Marianda de Villiers and Aletta Greyling (38).
- Nearest the pins: Annette Pretorius, Vivienne Wentworth, Hannelie Borchardt, Arnie van Opstal.
- Longest Drives: Shani van Rooyen and Hanlie de Villiers.
A huge thank you to all our sponsors. Without them this day would not have been such a great success.
I am happy to mention that we also raised R3 000 for the Haven Night Shelter, which will hopefully feed and supply a warm bed for a number of the homeless in our town this winter, and R3 000 for our animal welfare society, to support our furry friends.
