Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The sentencing of Lionel Marais, who was found guilty on counts of animal cruelty earlier this year, has been postponed for a fourth time.
Marais, the owner of the former dog breeding company, Plaaswag Boerboele, in Hartenbos, was expected to be sentenced in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court today, 5 December, however, the matter was postponed again to 14 February.
He was found guilty on 10 July this year of violating the Animal Protection Act 71 1962.
This was after 68 boerboels in various stages of neglect were removed from Plaaswag Boerboele by the Garden Route SPCA in May 2022.
