Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The sentencing of Lionel Marais, the owner of the former dog breeding company, Plaaswag Boerboele, has been postponed for a third time.
Marais appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court today, 15 November, to be sentenced after he was found guilty on 10 July of violating the Animal Protection Act 71 1962.
This was after 68 boerboels in various stages of neglect were removed from Plaaswag Boerboele in Hartenbos in May 2022 by the Garden Route SPCA.
His sentencing had been postponed twice before, for the completion of a probation and correctional services report.
The sentencing was again postponed due to the probation officer being unable to compile the probation and correctional services report as a result of their heavy workload. It was postponed to 5 December.
