Wooden planking
This phase includes the replacement of the wooden planking of the walk-on moorings with an improved grating system to advance the durability and sustainability of the moorings.
It will also feature the installation of new floating pontoons.
Walk-on mooring structure
The project will maintain the safety, functionality and longevity of the walk-on mooring structure, protect the environment and comply with regulatory requirements, TNPA notes.
The second phase, planned for completion before the commencement of the 2024/25 cruise season, will "introduce a completed, fully functional cruise reception facility that will house several cruise tourism stakeholders and serve as the hub of port and customs-related services, enabling the port to readily clear cruise passengers", according to the TNPA statement.
