MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The political and administrative leadership from the Keetmanshoop Municipality in Namibia visited Mossel Bay for discussions on a twinning agreement with Mossel Bay Municipality.
A delegation from Keetmanshoop visited Mossel Bay in February last year and began discussions with the municipality about a partnership.
The delegation, led by the mayor of Keetmanshoop, Her Worship Honourable Councillor Annelize Knaus, arrived in Mossel Bay for the formal signing of the twinning agreement this week.
During the visit, the delegation conducted a tour of municipal facilities, projects and initiatives. The formal signing of the agreement took place on Wednesday, 5 February, at the council chambers.
In his welcoming message, Mossel Bay municipal manager Colin Puren said Mossel Bay has a twinning agreement with the city of Denpasar, Indonesia, which was established in 2019 "and we are excited about starting a new journey with Keetmanshoop as our neighbours in Namibia".
He said: "The proposed memorandum of understanding (MoU) tabled in 2024 was to establish a framework for collaboration in multiple areas for the overall development and wellbeing of the residents in both our towns.
"The areas of cooperation discussed in terms of the proposed MoU last year, included local economic development, electricity, information technology, community services human resources and technical infrastructure."
