MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Rotary Club of Mossel Bay hosted one of the largest Rotary projects in the country last week.
It organised a dental clinic for learners from the following primary schools in the Mossel Bay area: Isalathiso, St Blaize, Ridgeview, Diaz, St Lukes, TM Ndanda, Garden Route, Indwe, Erika, Imekhaya, EK Primêr, Hillcrest and Denneprag.
In a statement, the club noted that dentists from overseas flew into South Africa and provided free dental care to 451 local schoolchildren and undertook a whopping 4 121 free procedures from 8 to 15 March.
Mossel Bay Rotary President said: "Rotary Dental Clinic 2025 was a joint venture of the United States-based Medicine Arm in Arm, The Rotary Club of Mossel Bay, The Rotary Club of Dundee in KwaZulu-Natal, the Department of Education and the Department of Health."
The Dundee Rotary Club helped with the transport of the equipment.

Rotary Mossel Bay explained that volunteer dentists from the United States and Finland, together with surgical assistants, provided the free dental treatments for the children.
The Rotary Club of Mossel Bay was the project leader and responsible for the funding of the project - among other responsibilities. The value of such a dental clinic is millions of rands.
It took meticulous planning and coordination for the successful execution of the project.
Rotary Mossel Bay noted: "We are thankful to all Rotarians in the Mossel Bay club for supporting such a mammoth task.
"Mossel Bay Provincial Hospital, ably led by Dr Jaco Bothma and Dr Juliana van Jaarsveld, played a pivotal role in this project and are to be commended. The Department of Education is also to be complimented."
The club concluded: "This proves that when the public and private sectors take hands together, the communities they serve benefit immensely.
"The lives of 451 children were changed fundamentally for the good last week and that makes this project highly successful."
