MOSSEL BAY NEWS - KwaNonqaba Police Station management and staff wish the community a peaceful and safe festive season and urge people to remain vigilant and look out for one another.
The station's spokesperson, Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp, reminded parents of matriculants to be supportive of their children, especially with the release of the matric results in January.
He added that the start of the holidays also means the start of the silly season, and urged the public to remember to switch off their appliances, when not in use and not to leave fires, paraffin lamps or candles unattended.
"Don't leave children in any public space, especially the beaches, without adult supervision," Kapp said.
When children are swimming, an adult should be watching them at all times to ensure their safety, he noted.
"There will be people out there, trying to swindle you. There is no quick way of making money. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is a scam. Please report any suspicious behaviour to the nearest police station."
Kapp urged the people to drive responsibly and not to get behind the steering wheel if any alcohol has been consumed.
"We want everyone to have a safe holiday," he said.
