MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Tomorrow, Saturday 20 July, residents of Mossel Bay and the mayor, Dirk Kotzé, will hike a 6km section of the St Blaize Trail in aid of Stehan Knuppe, a six-year-old boy from Dana Bay, battling cancer.
Proceeds from the hike will go towards treatment for Stehan.
The hike will start at the St Blaize Trail entrance at Curro Mossel Bay private school in Seemeeu Road, Mossel Bay, at 07:30 for 08:00, and end at the cave at The Point.
Shuttles will be available to transport hikers back to their vehicles.
Yolande and Kobus Heyneke, Lindie Edwards, Suzette Herrer and Lyle Peterson from the Mosselbaai Bo-dorp Neighbourhood Watch will act as marshals on the hike.
Absolut Security and MSec Security will also join the hike to ensure hikers feel safe while enjoying the trail.
Ronél Steyn, an ambassador for Cupcakes of Hope, a non-profit organisation supporting the fight against childhood cancer in South Africa, is rallying support and raising funds for Stehan's treatment.
In support of this campaign, the cost of the mayoral hike is a R100 donation to Stehan’s treatment. Special medals will also be available for the first 100 hikers.
“We are aware that the hike might start in slightly wet conditions, but the forecasts say the weather will clear as the morning progresses,” said the mayor.
