MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Residents are urged to reduce water consumption immediately - the Langerberg Reservoir stood at 58% capacity early this morning, 26 November, while pipeline repairs are ongoing.
According to the Mossel Bay Municipality, the 800mm potable water pipeline was closed off at 08:00 on Monday 24 November for repairwork.
“The repair period is 24 to 28 November. According to the most recent update, the repairwork remains on schedule. Consumers are urged to continue reduced use to refill reservoirs up to 5 December,” urged the municipality.
It said as of 07:30 this morning, the reservoir had dropped to 58% - yesterday at 16:00, is was still at 71%. “All residents must reduce water consumption immediately! Your co-operation is critical to safeguard supply during final repairs.”
The municipality said the desalination plant has been put into operation to supplement water supply. “Without radical minimising of water consumption, the Langeberg Reservoir could fall below 30% by tomorrow morning, Thursday 27 November.
“Due to low levels, water discoloration may occur. The water remains safe to drink.”

• 07:00: 75%
