MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Hillcrest Secondary School matriculant Aviwe Moses had a few challenges during her matric year but has some big plans for her future, following her excellent results.
Speaking to Mossel Bay Advertiser about her results and the time leading up to the exams, she said although she had hoped for higher marks, she is satisfied, nevertheless.
Moses received three distinctions, but said that the studying that led to her achieving these results was not without difficulties.
"I live in Asla Park, right opposite a tavern, and there were many nights when I was trying to study and the music was booming. We couldn't ask the owner to turn it down, because it's his business, so I just had to study with that music going on, often," said Moses.
"My mom did build a room for me behind our home, where I could study, but in winter it was too cold to try to study in there."
Despite this, she still achieved outstanding marks, and with these results, Moses has been accepted at a few different institutions, where she will either study towards a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or a Bachelor of Arts.
"When you are growing up, people always say you should enter a career that matches your skills and abilities. I am not sure I have the character to be a lawyer, but during my years at school, whenever anyone needed help, or there was a problem, they would call me, and we would win," she said with a laugh.
