Remembrance Day, also known as Poppy Day, which is officially on 11 November, serves to honour soldiers who died in the First and Second World Wars.
Additional names
Two new plaques have been affixed to the Cenotaph, bearing additional names of soldiers from the Mossel Bay area and these two plaques were unveiled on Sunday.
The Mossel Bay Heritage Society, chaired by Carina Wiggill, played a key role in obtaining these names from members of the public and ensuring they were added to the names already on the Cenotaph. Each year the parade also serves to honour soldiers who fought in the border wars in South Africa.
