MOSSEL BAY SPORT NEWS - Several bodybuilders upped their game following the International Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (IBFF) Spring Classic in Mossel Bay on 25 September.
At the event, held for a second time in Mossel Bay, an impressed president of the IBFF, Arnie William, invited some competitors to the IBFF World Cup.
This event took place at the Emerald Casino, Vanderbijlpark, on 17 October.
After the Spring Classic, athletes had a mere three weeks to prepare for the World Cup, but thanks to advice and guidance from Williams, they were sure what they were letting themselves in for.
"The crème de la crème of bodybuilding athletes compete at the World Cup and this year, it drew 194 entries," local bodybuilding world champion and organiser of the Spring Classic, Rochelle Smit told the Mossel Bay Advertiser this week.

First-timers Lushane Carolus, Heinrich Geyer and disabled athlete Max Khulati's participation in the World Cup deserves special mention.
Carolus, in a particularly tough line-up, with strong competition, came sixth in Mr Physique Boardshorts under 168cm. Max Khulati, who first tried his hand at powerlifting before moving into bodybuilding, made his name at the Spring Classic and apart from coming second in his category at the World Cup, was given a new wheelchair.
Heinrich Geyer reached the top six in his category, Mr Athletic under 168cm. Anton Siebert, a Mossel Bay teacher, currently competing in the Mr SA competition and a former bobybuilder, coached Geyer before both events.
"Five days before the Spring Classic, Heinrich told me he wanted to compete and I helped him with the basics.
"We had three weeks before the World Cup to compete against athletes who had been training for four to six months. I'm extremely proud of Heinrich for coming sixth among 14 competitors."
At the World Cup, Geyer was lauded for having huge potential and referred to as "a young Arnold Schwarzenegger".
