MOSSEL BAY SPORT NEWS AND VIDEO - The KwaNonqaba Community Policing Forum (CPF), in collaboration with the KwaNonqaba Police, held the annual Sports Against Crime Freedom Day Sports Tournament in Mossel Bay on Thursday, 27 April.
Teams from primary schools in the Mossel Bay area compete in soccer and rugby matches at the Extention 23 sports grounds. Deputy executive mayor of Mossel Bay, Alderman Cliffie Bayman, opened the tournament and made a declaration of fair play by kicking the first rugby ball for the day.
The police's Garden Route District Commissioner's office was represented at the event by Colonel Lionel Kennedy, who addressed the children.

Other dignitaries included Colonel Khutula Masakala and Lieutenant-Colonel Virgie Julius, both station commanders in the Mossel Bay area. The tournament was proof of the beneficial partnerships the KwaNonqaba CPF has established with business and other role players.
In the girls' soccer Isalathiso Primary won the gold medals and Imekhaya Primary took the silver medals.
In the boys' soccer Isalathiso was the best boys' team again this year and Imekhaya came second.
All present enjoyed the addition of the boys' rugby to the tournament. Garden Route Primary won the trophy for the best team with Isalathiso Primary came second.
The organisers were lauded for their efforts by police management, who endorsed the idea of sport against crime. The organisers thanked all their sponsors and role players for their generous contributions.
