This sold-out event attracted more than 500 excited spectators, who travelled from across the Garden Route to be there for the 'Fight Night'.
The event was not only attended by amateur fighters from martial arts clubs from all over the country (such as Panther, Industrial Fight Club, Gods of War, Tapout Academy, Chris Bright's MMA Academy, Gracie Jui Jitsu, DMF Kickboxing, Oudtshoorn Martial Arts, Two Brothers, and Strydoms Kickboxing) but also professional EFC fighter Francois Kabula and XFC International Fighter Chris Bright - both huge names in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
Between the MMA, K-1 and Muay Thai fights, the audience was entertained with performances by Dynamic Dance Studio, Cherie Smal, AK-47 and Heinrich and Francios Honiball who put on a steller opening performance with a lazer show. The beautiful 'ring girls' from Ace Models completed the evening's package.
But what stole the show was the exhibition Muay Thai fight between 12 year ols Maryke Janse van Rensburg and Chanel van den Berg, who preceeded their fight with the traditional 'Wai Kru' dance - a Thai way of giving thanks to your instructor for training and guiding you. The atmosphere became electric when the main fights started and what a performance from all the athletes! The audience reacted to every move and the cheering raised many goose bumps. Fighters were urged on by screaming and cheering.
The Battle of the Point used the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for Zac Bruwer, who attended the event with his mom and two older brothers. Money was also raised for the SPCA and food parcels will be delivered to them within the next week. For more information about the Zac Bruwer fund, please contact Johan Cilliers from Johan Cilliers Attorneys on 082 560 4999.
The Tiger Kai and TUFF Academy would like to thank the sponsors - see the Letters Colom.
