KWANONQABA NEWS - The deafening sound of revving car engines and the cheers from more than 5 000 spectators echoed throughout Mossel Bay thanks to the Eden Spin Fest which took place yesterday, 25 April in KwaNonqaba.
Forty competitors from Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, Cape Town and the Eastern Cape showed off their modified cars and expert driving skills on the track, despite worn down tyres and excessive smoke.
Each competitor held their own, performing fast-paced drag racing and thrilling stunts, each one more impressive than the last.
One driver even jumped out of his car through the window while the vehicle was spinning; another casually smoked a cigarette while spinning on the track.

This year's Eden Spin Fest was guided by the slogan "Uplift and Create Talent", with the aim of creating opportunities and bringing positive, high energy entertainment to communities where such events are limited.
The slogan proved to be more than true, as competitors as young as 10 years old sat in the driver's seat, entering the track without fear.

The event's organiser, Renier van Rooyen, told Mossel Bay Advertiser the Eden Spin Fest successfully reignited spinning culture in the Mossel Bay community, after nearly nine years without such an event.
"This was more than just a spinning event, it was about giving our communities something positive again. After nine years, we brought the culture back, and the support we received shows how much it was needed. This is only the beginning," he said.
Van Rooyen added that Saturday's event concluded without any incidents on the track and that it will return later this year, with hopes of expanding into an even bigger experience alongside the Eden Fest Music event, also set to take place in KwaNonqaba.
The organisers wish to express their gratitude to the Mossel Bay Municipality for their support in making the event not only possible, but a massive success as well.
