MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay’s FC Milan women gained a promotion to the Safa Western Cape Provincial Women’s League after securing second place in the Women’s Regional League provincial play-offs.
The play-offs were held at the Kayamandi sport grounds in Stellenbosch on Saturday 1 August.
Three teams, including FC Milan (Eden region), Rygersdal FC (Cape Town Region), and Warriors Academy, the host team, participated this year.
Both Rygersdal, who won the play-offs, and FC Milan were officially promoted to the provincial league for the 2026/27 season.
In the first game, Rygersdal beat Warriors Academy 6-0. The second match saw FC Milan defeating Warriors Academy 3-0, and in the last encounter, Rygersdal managed a 7-0 victory over FC Milan.

FC Milan’s coach, Yano Tafeni, said it’s great to see the young players play the game and reach the provincial league. He conveyed his gratitude to everyone who played a vital role in their attempt at gaining this promotion. He added that the big challenge for the season ahead will be transport and accommodation, as the team will be travelling to Cape Town to play their provincial league fixtures. He called on local stakeholders to support these rising stars as they take on their next season.
