MOSSEL BAY NEWS & VIDEO - During a Heritage Month celebration, the Dias Museum treated senior citizens from all over Mossel Bay to a festive day out.
The seniors were provided transport to the museum, enjoyed the entertainment provided and had a delicious meal to boot.
In a celebration of South Africa's diverse culture, the guests arrived in their colourful traditional outfits.
Local performers made sure there were points to ponder and nostalgic music to listen to.
Seasoned guitarist Hennie Mouton provided a few old school tunes, which had get tapping. A young poet from KwaNonqaba, Theo Danster, read a poem, which struck at the heart of the audience since it addressed the shocking trend of gender-based violence in South Africa.
One of the speakers, Mr Zolani Mpumela, from the Thusong Centre in KwaNonqaba, while presenting on the centre's many offerings, especially to the aged, said he was grateful that in a country with so much diversity, the older, wiser citizens could take the lead to ensure younger generations understood their roots.

The manager of the Dias Museum, Mbulelo Mrubata, opened a travelling exhibition on traditional clothing in South Africa. The exhibition showcases clothing made from isiShweshwe and consists of handmade items collected from various parts of the province.
