Update
MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The case against Robert Pace, the Mossel Bay man facing charges of fraud amounting to millions of rands, was postponed again for legal aid.
Pace allegedly posed as a developer, telling people he had earmarked a piece of land for a housing development. Between 2018 and 2024, he allegedly received thousands of rands from several victims who had wanted to buy a plot of land on the development site.
Mossel Bay Advertiser previously reported that 19 cases had been reported to the police, the total amounting to almost R3m.
Pace made his first appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on 30 July 2024, and on 6 August that year, he was granted bail of R10 000.
His bail conditions include that he is not allowed to contact any of the alleged victims, and that he surrenders his passport.
He appeared on 14 January. He is due to appear again on 25 February.
