MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Da Gamaskop Police Station's detectives recently visited TM Ndanda Primary School in Fairview, Mossel Bay, to hand over some school supplies and teach some of the learners about keeping safe.
The team was led by Da Gamaskop Police Station's head of detectives, Lieutenant Colonel Maria Gerber, and Constable Ayabonga Lolo, who came up with the idea to collect the stationery kits.
They visited the school with 50 kits last Wednesday, 28 January.
About 20 were donated by a business in Voorbaai, while the rest were donated by the detectives and a few members of the Da Gamaskop Police Station's B shift.
The detectives also brought some clothes and kitchenware that had been donated by the community.
Gerber spoke to the little ones about general safety, and reminded them that the police were their friends and to be trusted.

She said the police care a lot about children, and that the kids should never be scared to approach them or call for help. She then taught them the police's emergency number, 10111.
TM Ndanda's principal, Mathemba Lolwana, said the police had contacted him in December about the stationery kits.
"It is a really great initiative and we are extremely grateful. The children did need those kits. We hope the police will visit us again soon," he said.
