MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Point in Mossel Bay was a sea of uniformed men and women of the Blaize Away Shellhole, a local branch of the Memorable Order of the Tin Hats (Moths), during its annual Border Boys Parade on Sunday 28 June.
The parade was held at the Cenotaph at The Point, in honour of those who served in the South African National Defence Force (Sandf) and the South African Defence Force (Sadf) during the Border War, which took place between 1966 and 1990.
About 2 000 South African soldiers are believed to have lost their lives in battle during the conflict.
The branch, alongside the Mossel Bay Round Table, paid tribute to the men and women who "made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country".
"Their sacrifice and dedication remain a lasting reminder that the freedoms we enjoy today came at a great cost," said the Round Table.
Members of the public were allowed to join in the parade, which was opened by Mossel Bay's mayor, Dirk Kotzé.
