MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Spring Hike with Mayor Dirk Kotzé took place in Mossel Bay on Saturday, 22 October.
Kotzé and his wife Riëtte were joined by nearly 100 hikers who enjoyed walking 8,8km along the St Blaize trail.
He said: “An incredible opportunity exists for us as the community of Mossel Bay to promote The Point as a natural wonder, for visitors from across the Western Cape, South Africa, Africa and the world to come and enjoy.”
He added: “What we have seen is that when the community takes on a project and runs with it, it is successful. We are looking for people to put up their hands and support this great cause.”
“Thank you to all who joined the hike today,” Kotzé said. He also thanked Mossel Bay Fire and Disaster Management chief Joe Johnston and those of his team who ensured the hikers' safety.
The hike ended on a high note as some of the hikers were transported back to the starting point of the hike - the fire station which is in Heiderand - using fire engines.
