MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Karate Do International Mossel Bay Dojo are exceedingly proud to congratulate two of their outstanding students.
Two of their long-standing members, Ruben Vermaak and Christopher Smuts, successfully graded for their black belts.
"Achieving a black belt is not simply about being proficient and fluent in your practice, you have the responsibility of a commanding presence and a leadership role within that community that is upheld with great honour." says Kobus Klue, Dojo head at the Mossel Bay Dojo.
Holding the title of Chief Instructor of Karate Do International in the Southern Cape district Sensei Klue Sensei (5 Dan) is a dedicated and stern instructor to his students.
"They are dedicated and loyal students, always going the extra mile, and willing to assist in the dojo. It took a lot of hard work, long hours, blood, sweat and tears," said Klue. "It's the end of your first chapter. Now a new journey begins - 'Shodan' is a new beginning."
"Vermaak is 21 and is an enterprise director and has been practicing karate for several years now. He enjoys the group orientated exercise involved in the sport and how this practice keeps up the spirits and helps you improve on your mental and physical health."
Klue also said that Smuts is an active member and full-time instructor at the Mossel Bay Dojo at the age of 38 and has been practicing karate for many years.
"One of Christopher's favoured practices is the Bunkai - it is to analyze movements of a kata and then practice it against each other," said Klue. Smuts, like many of his fellow members, greatly appreciates the sense of family within the dojo." "We anticipate welcoming these two new black belts to our dojo."
