The race will commence at Santos Caravan Park in Mossel Bay over either 42.2km, 21km or 10km courses around the beautiful seaside of Mossel Bay. The marathon and related events form part of the Mossel Bay Sports Festival.
A very strong contingent of African athletes, representing no less than five African countries, is expected to take to the starting lines.
This year the event incorporates the ASWD 42.2km trials.
This race is strictly Pre-Entry. Late entries will be taken on Friday, 26 September from 14:00 to 21:00. Registration and collection of race packs will take place on Friday, 26 September from 14:00 to 21:00 and on Saturday, 27 September from 05:30 to 06:50. Fun Run entries, however, will only take place on Saturday, 27 September 2014.

What is new in 2014:
- AIMS Certificates for all three of the (10/21/42) Routes
- Prize money for first male and female has been increased to R60000.00 each, and the total race purse over all events and categories nears R600000.
- IAAF Bronze Label status, this is a first for the African continent.
- International elite field of at least 5 different nationalities.
- IAAF downhill criteria of max 1/1000 // separation criteria of 50%.
- AIMS Certified within the last 5 years.
- Elite Runners must have recorded a performance in the 36 month period preceding the competition: 42.2km: Men 2:16, Women 2:38 / 21.1km: Men 1:04, Women 1:15 / 10km: Men 29.30, Women 37.00.
- Branded Moisture Management shirts to the first 40 entries per race (10/21/42) – PetroSA approved the lumo yellow color option.

Athlete Incentives (Marathon Only):
R30,000 towards “time” incentives. R15,000 male and female faster than the aforementioned times of 2:13 and 2:36 for M and F respectively. The 2013 winning times were 2:18 and 2:43.
Amongst the confirmed invited elite athletes are some of Africa’s top long distance runners: Sufa Chala – Ethiopia (M), Marwa Dickson Mkami – Tanzania (M), Simon Kipgnetich – Uganda (M), Ghirmay Tikabo – Eritrea (M) and Amos Mayiyo Maindi – Kenya (M).
Additional elite runners from Sanlam Cape Town Marathon and other marathons will participate with township development runners.
