MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Surfer Kids NPO has a fundraising campaign to cover entry fees for members of the public who cannot afford to pay to skateboard at the NPO's skateboard bowl at its premises in Dias, Mossel Bay.
This was announced today by The Surfer Kids.
Beach Boulevard West
Hermann Vivier, co-founder and co-owner of the NPO, said that so far The Surfer Kids has raised enough to cover 50 entry fees at the Bitcoin Bowl, which is situated in Beach Boulevard West, above the main Dias Beach parking area.
This concession is only for skateboarders who really cannot afford to pay.
Private property
The Bitcoin Bowl is private property, owned by The Surfer Kids NPO and was primarily constructed for the use of The Surfer Kids beneficiaries.
But the NPO decided to open it to the general public at certain times for the benefit of the children in Mossel Bay.
Complaints
There were complaints from some members of the public earlier this month that people could not afford to skate at the bowl.
A skate session was priced at R100 for the day for members of the public, but The Surfer Kids has now reduced this to R50 per day for general members of the public.
The beneficiaries of The Surfer Kids NPO skateboard for free.
The Bitcoin Bowl was constructed for them.
Explain
Vivier said members of the public need to explain why they cannot afford to pay if they wish to qualify to skateboard for free.
He said The Surfer Kids NPO will prioritise children under 18 years when it provides some skateboarding sessions for free.
Sessions must be pre-booked
Skateboarding sessions must be pre-booked online at: https://bitcoinekasi.com/skate/. Here are more details about the fundraising campaign: https://btcpay.ust.st/apps/Jftwdg1U4U5H5amPUd9yVRexPJ7/crowdfund.
Skateboarders must bring their own skateboards and protective gear. Note that The Surfer Kids does not provide skateboard lessons.
