MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Several students of the South Cape TVET College, Mossel Bay Campus are expected to appear in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court today, 20 March.
The appearance follows their arrest yesterday evening.
Mossel Bay Advertiser is currently waiting at the court to clarify how many students were arrested and what the charges are against them.
The Advertiser sent questions to the police regarding the arrests and is awaiting a response.
Students at the campus had stood outside the entrance of the campus yesterday morning, protesting an alleged decrease in accommodation allowance from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS).
Stun grenades were fired by the Public Order Police (POP) unit from George at about 12:00 yesterday. The students dispersed but later returned to the campus at around 16:30.
This morning, students returned to the campus. The POP unit was also present.
The Advertiser sent questions yesterday to the NSFAS and to the South Cape College about the alleged decreased accommodation allowance.
