MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A resident of Mabolo Street in KwaNonqaba contacted the Mossel Bay Advertiser, extremely concerned about the safety of people and property in the street.
A toddler was run over in the street and died on the scene last month (July).
Also, the resident, Stanley Kama, said a bakkie crashed into his fence, causing damage to the fence and his yard. He laid a charge at the KwaNonqaba Police Station after this incident.
Eleven residents in the street signed a petition which they presented to the Mossel Bay Municipality, asking for a speed hump to be erected on Mabolo Street.
Kama gave the Mossel Bay Advertiser a copy of the petition.
On enquiry, Mossel Bay Municipality executive manager (Strategic Services) Colin Puren confirmed that the request for a speed hump had been noted and the feasibility thereof assessed.
"The Traffic Department undertook a survey to ascertain whether the speed hump in Mabolo Street was warranted or not and it was found that it was warranted.
"The speed hump will thus be erected shortly," Puren said.
