MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The elephant cow involved in an incident at the Gondwana Private Game Reserve, in which a field guide died, is being monitored and lightly sedated to reduce the impact of possible mental trauma.
A spokesperson for the reserve said the elephant was possibly distressed after the incident on Sunday, 10 March.
Employees at the reserve are receiving counselling for trauma after their colleague, David Kandela (36), was killed by the elephant.

Gondwana Private Game Reserve is in the Herbertsdale area, inland from Mossel Bay, off the N2 in the direction of Cape Town. He was with another guide when the incident took place.
No guests or other people were involved in the incident. Kandela joined the reserve on 8 December last year. The reserve confirmed that it is assisting Kandela's family to transport his body to Zimbabwe so that he can be buried there.
Kandela was well known for singing songs while entertaining his guests. He was raised in Kariba and demonstrated a deep passion for his work and for music.
Funeral arrangements have not yet been made.
KwaNonqaba Police have opened an inquest docket.
