MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The 2019/2020 financial year is well under way for Proudly South African and it has once again embarked on a nationwide roadshow with the aim to empower and equip small businesses and entrepreneurs for success and sustainability.
The Proudly SA provincial business forums gather in one place entities that are essential to the growth of these small businesses, in terms of their compliance with regulations, legislation and other business processes and expose businesses to financial and non-financial opportunities available to them in both the public and private sectors.
Last week, represented at the Mossel Bay event were the hosts, Proudly SA, the Department of Small Business Development, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the B-BBEE Commission, the CIPC, SARS, SEFA and SEDA. The event was hosted at the Diaz Beach Hotel and Resort.
Proudly SA business forums are hosted at least once per province per year and have now adopted a strategy to hold them in different towns and cities.
At its event, Proudly SA focused on local procurement movements worldwide and the impact on job creation; and also focused on the benefits of becoming a Proudly SA member company.
Attendees enjoyed a lively discussion, offering points to ponder aplenty.
This included, among others: use of their logo, access to their impressive database, increased access to the market via their online shop, RSA Made, and being on the database of their tender monitoring system, which captures all public sector tenders and passes those designated for localisation to member companies for their consideration.
While membership is relatively cheap (from R500 per year) companies need to adhere to four main criteria before being approved.
These include at least 50% local content in your manufacturing processes, quality products certified by a recognised industry body, adherence to national labour laws, as well as sound environment conservation practices. Photo: Donovan Poole
