MOSSEL BAY NEWS AND VIDEO - The police in the greater Mossel Bay area hosted a men's health event this week at New Life Church, Heiderand.
It was held in conjunction with stakeholders including the departments of Social Development, Health and Correctional Services, the National Prosecuting Authority, as well as NPOs and NGOs.
All in attendance were welcomed and treated to coffee and refreshments by the Da Gamaskop Community Policing Forum.
Under the guidance and leadership of the Social Crime office of Warrant Officer Jonathan Jansen, the event was well attended by numerous stakeholders.
The speakers included a pastor from Woord in Waarheid church, Annamarie Rossouw, who spoke on the psychological impact of ill health on men in women.
Coenie Kruger from Bio-Kinetics Hartenbos spoke on wellness and fitness.

The mostly male attendees included Lieutenant-Colonel Seppie September, the station commander of the Mossel Bay Police and several senior officers in the police in the greater Mossel Bay area.
Setchmoore Rhoodes represented the Mossel Bay Municipality and Imam Khan and members of the Muslim community in Mossel Bay also addressed the delegates on wellness from a Muslim point of view.
They reached out to the community, saying we are all the same and we should rather focus on our similarities than our differences.
Urologist Dr Robbie Botha spoke about prostate and prostate cancer problems.
There was good participation from the floor.
As a pilot programme, the event was well received and well accepted. The police hope this programme will grow and go from strength to strength, police spokesperson Warrant Officer Kappie Kapp said.
