BUSINESS NEWS - While most schools offer traditional sports such as rugby, soccer or netball, King’s College sets itself apart by introducing a cycling development programme as an organised school sport and extracurricular activity - one of the first schools in the greater Eden district to do so.
With incredible cycling routes right on its doorstep, King’s College will officially be launching cycling and mountain biking on its school grounds at the Outeniquasbosch Wildlife Village on Saturday 1 August as an after-school activity.
Coaching will be spearheaded each week by the Day’s Cycling Company, an experienced and well-respected cycling business in Mossel Bay.
Its collaboration with King’s College promises to be the start of an exciting and rewarding journey for learners, teachers and parents.
The company will work closely with the young riders, introducing them to the joys of cycling and mountain biking, while building their confidence in this particular sport.
Learners will not only engage in a new and exciting activity, but will also learn valuable skills and important lessons that will last a lifetime, in tandem with the well-rounded education they receive inside the King’s College classrooms.
This after-school activity is open to learners brave enough to try something new and those already familiar with the sport - all you need is a helmet, a bicycle and a bit of courage.
Thanks to the open fields right next to King’s College, the Day’s Cycling Company will be expanding and developing new cycling routes within the Outeniquasbosch area.
The routes are crafted with safety and fun in mind, perfect for families and friends to spend time together, explore nature and create lasting memories and a lifelong interest in cycling as a sport.

An introductory cycling session will be held at King’s College from 10:00 on Saturday, presented by Dusty Day of Day’s Cycling Company, a highly accomplished road and gravel cyclist.
The session will focus on practical skills development and a friendly competition, making it suitable for cyclists of all abilities.
After the session, cyclists will be divided into groups according to their experience and fitness levels. More advanced riders may also have the opportunity to join the group for a short ride.
Participants, parents and teachers are advised to bring along their own bicycles and helmets. An experienced mechanic will be available on site to assist with basic bicycle checks, flat tyres and any minor problems.
“We cannot wait to see you on your bicycles, learning new skills, making new friends and, most importantly, having fun. We look forward to seeing you there!” said the school and Day’s Cycling Company.
If your bicycle requires any maintenance or repairs before the session, participants are welcome to contact Day’s Cycling Company on 063 182 8382 to ensure it is safe to ride.
Cyclists young and old can look to King’s College and Day’s Cycling Company for a strong cycling community, endless encouragement and their next outdoor adventure.
