MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Mossel Bay's NSRI was called on twice this past weekend to assist with vessels that broke their moorings.
At 21:19 on Saturday, 17 March the NSRI Mossel Bay duty crew were called to assist following reports of a ski-boat run aground, unmanned, at Santos Beach.
It appeared the ski-boat broke her mooring in the strong easterly wind, André Fraser, NSRI Mossel Bay station commander, said.
"The owner and members of the public had managed to refloat the ski-boat that appeared undamaged and under her own motor power the boat was remoored by the owner off-shore.
"On Sunday at 08:49 we launched the sea rescue craft, St Blaze Rescuer, to assist a 16-foot yacht that broke her moorings in a light westerly wind and had been noticed adrift offshore by members of the public," Fraser said.
"Port Control confirmed on investigation that a yacht appeared to be adrift offshore and we towed the unmanned yacht, Mega Motion, to Mossel Bay Yacht and Boat Club, where she was then moored without incident. The owner in Pretoria was informed."
