MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Asla Park resident Claudine Damon-Patel, well known for her extensive community work in Mossel Bay these last 20 years, is ready to publish her book, Oorlewingstryd, but needs a little help.
The book details the challenging yet inspiring journey of her youngest son, Ezra Daniel (10), who was born two weeks premature on 18 June 2014, with a rare low-immunity condition and a cleft palate.
He has undergone many surgeries throughout his 10 years of life, and raising him to ensure he had a happy and stable life became Claudine's full-time job.
She very quickly had to learn about his conditions and all his needs, and even took several courses on how to properly care for him. Her book not only tells Ezra's story, but also offers information about the challenges and unknown aspects of raising a child with similar conditions for other parents.
Claudine founded the Ezra Daniel NPO (297-463 (NPO)) that runs projects aimed at helping the community, such as the Ezra Daniel Shoe Drive. The drive helps provide school shoes to children all year round.

She finished writing her book in February and had planned to launch it at the Mossel Bay Town Hall on 30 April, however, she needed assistance with funding its editing and printing.
The launch date was pushed back and now, almost a year later, she is still asking for help with the editing and printing processes.
