MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Various business owners and guest speakers gathered in the Diaz Hotel and Resort on Tuesday 21 October for the monthly Mossel Bay Business Chamber networking evening.
This month's guest speaker was Francois Swanepoel, CEO of the Sentraal-Suid Koöperasie (SSK).
His topic was the road ahead for the SSK and to provide an update on the exciting new Agriland Mossel Bay development.
The SSK is an agricultural company serving farmers primarily in the Southern Cape, Overberg, Langkloof and Karoo regions.
Swanepoel emphasised continuous growth within the SSK and the farming industry, including the development of Agriland. "If you aren't around the table, you are on the menu," he said.
Agriland, located in Voorbaai, has been undergoing renovations throughout the year. According to Swanepoel, it is hoped those renovations will be concluded by June 2026.
Other speakers throughout the evening included Carol Walton of the Seabird and Penguin Rehabilitation Centre (Saprec) in Mossel Bay and the communications officer for the Mossel Bay Municipality, Cornelle Carstens-Johnston.
Walton showcased the work her team does for the protection and care of injured seabirds that appear along the coast, while Carstens-Johnston shared some insights into the municipality's official communication channels and how to best utilise them.
Vision 2050, a proposal for the future of Mossel Bay and the Garden Route as a whole, and its progress were also highlighted.
The winners of a lucky draw received some bottles of wine before the group enjoyed their dinner.
The final Mossel Bay Business Chamber networking evening for the year will be held on 21 November, with Group Editors' CEO Servaas de Kock as the guest speaker.
