MOSSEL BAY NEWS - Shaun Boshoff (16) shook the Western Cape Strongest Man competition in Mossel Bay on Saturday, 12 April, when he completed a massive 291kg axle deadlift.
This impressive feat secured him the title of the U18, under 90kg world record holder.
His father, Shane Jensen, who competed in the deadlift in the Masters 50 plus category at the competition, became the new Africa record holder in this category.
He completed a 361kg deadlift with an 18-inch axle bar, also beating his previous personal best of 350kg.
Speaking to Mossel Bay Advertiser, Jensen said he was ecstatic about both his and his son's records.
Jensen said he called the Strongest Man governing body, based in the United States, yesterday, 13 April, and it was confirmed that Shaun did indeed break the U18, under 90kg deadlift record.

Last year, the Advertiser reported that Shaun had broken the junior deadlift record by 15kg at the Western Cape Strongest Man competition, which was held in Oudtshoorn.
The two also competed in the Official Strongman Games (OSG) held in Madison, Wisconsin, in the United States in December last year.
There, Jensen placed eighth. Due to a bicep injury, he has been focusing on a full recovery, so he can compete in the South African Strongest Man competition in KwaZulu-Natal in July this year and then the OSG in November.
Jensen says his goal for this year's OSG is to make the podium.
Shaun is a Mossel Bay local and a learner at Langenhoven Gymnasium in Oudtshoorn.
