MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The Social Economic Department (SED) of the Mossel Bay Municipality recently hosted a training session for 12 early childhood development (ECD) practitioners.
The course is funded by the Department of Social Development (DSD) and was held over two days as the Introduction to Inclusive Education workshops.
The course is designed to give participants a comprehensive overview of inclusive education principles, strategies and tools to assist ECD practitioners to ensure that all young children are included in learning activities.
Some of the focus areas include:
- Why children are excluded from learning,
- Why inclusion is so important,
- How to adapt the activities to accommodate all children developing at different levels,
- How to identify the barriers to learning that young children experience,
- Where to access support,
- How to deal with challenging behaviour
The sessions are interactive and practical and the facilitators deal with the real challenges that practitioners face on a daily basis.
