MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a security guard at the De Bakke Santos resort in Mossel Bay.
The incident took place in the early hours of Thursday, 20 February.
In a dramatic turn of events, three security guards stationed at the resort, including the guard who was allegedly stabbed, were also arrested on charges of attempted murder.
According to police, the guards are accused of assaulting the suspect following the attack.
Both the injured guard and the suspect were taken to hospital and discharged later that same day.
The suspect then filed a case against the three security guards, leading to their arrests. The guard filed a case against the suspect the following day, 21 February.
Authorities later tracked down and arrested the stabbing suspect on Wednesday, 26 February.
The guards appeared in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court on Monday, 24 February, and were released on bail. They are set to appear in court again on 1 April.
The suspect is expected to appear in court tomorrow, Friday 28 February.
De Bakke Santos general manager Peter van Rensburg confirmed that a meeting was scheduled for today, Thursday 27 February, with acting commander Captain Billy Buys and head of detectives Captain Jacqueline Grundlingh from Mossel Bay Police Station.
Van Rensburg emphasised that security at the resort remains a top priority.
"De Bakke Santos has 24-hour security and theft attempts are usually prevented by the guards or the perpetrators are apprehended, with stolen goods recovered," he said.
The police investigation into both cases is ongoing.
