MOSSEL BAY NEWS - The popular motorcycle event, the Whale Rally, returns to Hartenbos for the weekend of 7 June.

The Mossel Bay Municipality welcomed the Whale Rally back, yet noted the concerns raised by Hartenbos locals after the recent Buffalo Rally and made arrangements to ameliorate these problems.

The Whale Rally originated in Keurbooms River, when it was first held in 2004. It then ventured to the Aventura Resort, before being held in Plettenberg Bay for nine years. Ever since 2016, this popular event has taken place at the ATKV Hartenbos, where the many bikers and their families have been a welcome economic boost to the local economy.

Hosted by the Ulysses Garden Route Motorcycle Club, the Whale Rally has proved to be a strong tourist attraction. The event has been growing annually and draws many spectators who marvel at the large machines and their drivers' antics. The organisers also contribute generously to a variety of charity organisations in town.

Motorbike aficionados can again expect a spectacular mass ride. Municipal law enforcement agencies will again assist to execute strict enforcement of traffic rules. In turn, the police will enforce control regarding liquor consumption in public.

Soon the big bikes will again add verve to the streets of Mossel Bay, much to the delight of locals and visitors.
