MOSSEL BAY NEWS & VIDEO - Mossel Bay resident Lukas Korff set a world record, doing 55 bench presses with a 50kg dumbbell under water on Saturday, 16 June.
The previous record was 38 bench presses. When asked why he beat the previous record so easily, he replied: "I have been practising really hard."
Korff did this to raise money in the form of pledges for a Mossel Bay infant, known only as Baby Layla, who is suffering from cystic fibrosis and battles to breath.

It is hoped the funds raised will enable Layla's mom to leave her job so she can be with her baby, who needs 24 hour care.
Korff said: "My first wife pass away from the same sickness. After she passed away a child dared me to set a world record and I have been taking dares ever since."
His slogan is: "I'm holding my breath so Baby Layla can breathe."
This is now Korff's 17th world record. All his world records have been because of dares he said. National Sea Rescue Insitute volunteers, ambulance personnel and even firemen were present at Korff's feat at the Diaz Water Park.
This is now Korff's 17th world record.
He completed the challenge in the cold three metre-deep outdoor plunge pool with no wetsuit or breathing apparatus.

When asked why he beat the previous record so easily, he replied: "I have been practising really hard."
Before arriving in Mossel Bay in February this year Korff and his family spent four years "on the road", travelling to schools as part of the Crazy Faith Life Foundation. He did motivational talks and leadership coaching.
